This handcrafted goblet with bark edge is handturned from a single block of Irish timber, allowing the natural grain, bark, and markings of the wood to remain part of the finished form. The rim keeps its raw bark edge, giving the piece an earthy, organic character that contrasts with the smooth, polished bowl.
A single decorative turned ring sits on the stem - a traditional detail that requires accuracy and control, especially on a shallow-form goblet. Around the upper side of the base, a band of Wicca chameleon pigment adds a subtle colour shift in tones of green, violet, and gold. The same pigment has been used to fill a natural split in the timber, preserving the wood's integrity while adding a gentle shimmer.
The goblet is carefully sanded and finished to enhance the natural tone of the wood, while the bark edge and filled split remain part of its unique character. A felt pad is fitted to the base to protect surfaces and give the piece stability for display.
Handturned in the Boyne Valley, this one-of-a-kind goblet is well suited as a decorative piece, a symbolic gift, or a meaningful addition to a woodcraft collection.
