This handcrafted goblet is turned from spalted maple timber, chosen for its dramatic tonal variation and natural movement within the grain. The timber’s live edge has been intentionally retained on both the cup and the base, giving the piece an organic, sculptural feel while honouring the raw form of the wood.

The goblet shows the distinctive markings of spalted maple - dark veining, lighter patches, and soft gradients that shift around the curve of the bowl and stem. Natural cracks and character lines remain visible and stable, adding authenticity and giving the goblet the appearance of something aged and storied. These elements have not been hidden; they are part of what makes this piece truly unique.

Joe has shaped the stem with gentle curves and subtle detailing to complement the irregular contours of the live edges. The goblet is finished with a light oil to enhance colour, deepen contrast, and protect the wood without altering its natural texture.

Handmade in Meath, Ireland, this Goblet is a standalone creation - not part of a set, but an individual piece of craft with presence and personality. Ideal for collectors, rustic interiors, or anyone drawn to wood that celebrates its origins rather than disguising them.
