This handcrafted goblet is turned from spalted maple, a timber known for its naturally occurring lines, colour variations, and organic markings. The wood’s surface shows a mix of warm honey tones, soft browns, and characteristic spalting patterns that give the piece depth and movement.

Two carved grooves encircle the stem and base, each filled with Inferno chameleon pigment from The Tiny Turner. This pigment shifts between deep orange, copper, and gold depending on the angle and light, creating a subtle shimmer that contrasts beautifully with the natural grain. A natural split at the base has also been filled with the same pigment, preserving the integrity of the timber while adding a unique visual detail.

The goblet is shaped with smooth curves that highlight the wood’s figure, and the proportions give it a balanced, sculptural presence. Finished with a protective oil, the surface is smooth to the touch and designed to enhance the character of the spalted maple while ensuring long-lasting durability.

A felt pad has been added to the base for extra stability and to protect surfaces.

This goblet is a one-of-a-kind piece of Irish woodcraft - ideal for collectors, display, or anyone drawn to the natural beauty of timber combined with contemporary pigment work.
